1.1.1 Product Introduction

Fiber-reinforced composites are used in the car for at least 50 years of history, since carbon fibre came out, carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composite automobile developed rapidly and become the fastest growing automotive materials and new materials.

The properties of high-strength and high modulus of carbon fiber determine that it is the preferred choice for the new lightweight materials of car.

The planning target weight loss product is the most obvious automotive components such as drive shafts, chassis, body, truck leaf spring, truck drivers overall room

The significance of the plan: To promote the development of automotive lightweight, we plan to extend the application of the products from high-end automotive vehicles to low-end cars. In order to realize China's material revolution, we use the lightweight of automobile to promote the composite materials wider access to industrial.

1.1.2 Market Prospects

 (1) Market Analysis Carbon Fiber

As an automobile material, carbon fiber’s biggest advantages are light weight and high intensity. Its weight is equivalent to that of only 20% to 30% of steel, but it is more than 10 times the hardness of steel. So automakers can make use of carbon fiber materials for lightweight automotive breakthrough and bring social benefits to save energy. Since carbon fiber reinforced materials have sufficient intensity and rigidity, the lightest material for manufacturing automobile body, chassis, wheels and other parts of the main structure, makes car body and chassis lose weight of 40% to 60 % which is equivalent to 1/3 ~ 1/6 of weight of steel structure. Carbon fiber is used in brake friction lining because of the characteristics of environmental protection and wear resistance. But containing carbon fiber composites are extraordinarily expensive, so they are mainly used in high-end cars now. In terms of automotive carbon fiber, Japan is ahead of the curve, currently the companies and institutions participating in the cooperative research include Toray material supplier, auto giant Nissan and Honda, as well as TokyoUniversity and other higher education institutions. Their goal is to make the material technology reach the commercialization stage in 2015.

Our self-developed carbon fiber composite brake preform, its performance has been fully reached the level of foreign. The technical / carbon brakes prepared by using domestic carbon preform have batch equipped the key military aircrafts of national defense, and used on civil aircraft B757-200 type, the used on other models are also in the experimental evaluation and will promote the use in the tanks, high-speed trains, limousine and car racing.

(2) Forecast of Future Market

Currently the amount to be used of global carbon fiber is about 50,000 tons, it is predicted that an average annual growth rate of global demand for carbon fiber is 30%, including aerospace composites with an average annual growth of 11%, will increase by 150,000 tons in 2020. The amount to be used of carbon fiber has more than 7000 tons in 2010, and increases with an annual rate of about 15%, more than 80% dependents on imports. China Composites Group Corporation and "Chinese Material Technology" are the main forces of Chinese composites industry, they have declared to take automobile composite materials as one of the priority of development. However, they do not seem to have much progress in automotive composite products.

Automotive composites parts products have formed a consensus in the composites industry, but they did not reach a consensus in automobile manufacturing business community. The type of automotive lightweight material is various; there is no consensus about which part is only most suitable of carbon fiber composite material. "Best fit" is not only the performance fits, but also the economic value fits. "Best fit" is the only thing to it. In fact, the "best fit" without research and discussion, just look at the foreign same type of car in mass production of carbon fiber parts. Abroad, the leaf springs of trucks and bumpers of passenger cars use carbon fiber composite materials most, drive shaft, body door frame followed. In summary, there is a high strength, high modulus ratio requirements, and the parts that other materials cannot reach are suitable for carbon fiber composite material.

Experts predict that in the next five years, the transportation equipment products grow fastest in China's carbon fiber composite materials market, more than the growth of aviation equipment, are about 2 million tons. The market capacity of automotive carbon fiber composite is 1.4 million-1.7 million tons.

The Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Northeast China are the key points of the domestic market. At present, there are 20-30 enterprises producing similar products in China, the large variety of product types leads to vary prices, the market prospect is very promising.

Competitiveness of the product is in high specific intensity, high specific modulus and high cost-effective. Competitiveness of planning is in mature technology and production capacity. The competitiveness of planning now is underlying, appearing to be competitiveness needs the understanding of the design unit of automobile assembly, in other words, recognized by the market can be able to release competitiveness.

1.1.3 Technological analysis

The product of the planning is carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composites.

Carbon fiber possesses the characteristics of high intensity and high specific modulus. The performance requirements of composites products are not only intensity and modulus, therefore, it can adopt the mixed design, to mix carbon fibers and other reinforcing fibers together. For example, carbon fibers mix with glass fibers or aramid fibers, which possesses the characteristics of high intensity, high modulus, and good elongation at break and impact strength. The products of the planning are based on performance requirements, adopt structure design and mixed methods to produce specific products.

Thermosetting resin of matrix resin of possesses the characteristics of excellent usability, high elastic modulus, low fracture toughness, high fracture toughness of the thermoplastic resin. We can use the mixed resin matrix which mainly is thermosetting resin and supplemented by thermoplastic resin matrix to make toughness prepregs, and then compounded it into products.

The forming process of automotive CFRP uses hot-press, winding, resin transfer molding and other methods.

A. Vacuum sac thermoforming technology can be applied in the main structural parts CFRP of automobile.

B. CNC filament winding technology can be applied in automotive shell CFRP.

C. Resin transfer molding technology can be applied in high intensity and high modulus surface- delicate components CFRP.

1.2 Content and Scale of Project Construction

1.2.1 Scheme and Scale of Product

The total investment is 1.5 billion yuan, with an annual output of 3,000 tons of carbon fiber automotive lightweight products, annual value of production will reach 1.6 billion yuan, realizes taxation of profit of 390 million yuan after put into production.

1.2.2 Content of Project Construction

It is planning to build automotive composites carbon fiber production base, including industrial parks and living parks.

(1)Workshop equipments: three sets of autoclaves, three sets of CNC winding machines and curing ovens, and three sets of RTM molding equipment.

(2)Raw material sources: domestic and international procurement.

(3)Production site: 380,000 m2.
